Al Jouf is a medium sized city in the north of Saudi Arabia near the Jordanian border.  The population is around 100,000 of whom 14,000 attend the new co-educational Al Jouf University which has just graduated its third year of students.

This competitive comprehensive university has faculties of Engineering, Medicine, Education, Social Sciences, IT, Dentistry and Pharmacology.  It has a policy of instilling strict adherence to academic discipline, rigorous assessment and all-round quality.                                                                                                  

The university offers English-medium education and to prepare students for this a Preparatory Year Programme (PYP) of English language instruction is being delivered from September 2009.
