The IELTS test consists of four modules: compulsory Listening and Speaking modules and a choice between either General Training or Academic Reading and Writing modules.
The General Training module assesses a broad range of language skills and is suited to candidates wanting to take work-related training courses, enter secondary school, work in an English-speaking country or apply for permanent residency.
The Academic modules assess a candidate's ability to use the language skills needed to study a course in English, including skills required to follow complex arguments, discuss abstract ideas and concepts, and deal with information effectively.
RMIT English Worldwide holds the test in a single day. The Listening, Reading and Writing parts of the test are completed between 9am and 12noon and the Speaking interviews are held between 12:40pm and 5:30pm on the same day. All parts of the test are usually conducted in small rooms, which provide a comfortable environment for candidates.
