REW offers six levels of English language training from Elementary to Advanced 2. Each level from Elementary to Advanced 1 comprises Module A and Module B, with each module consisting of 125* hours or 5 weeks of training.

Level Advanced 2 is compromised of only Module A with 125* hours or 5 weeks of training. In 2011 REW will introduce a new Advanced Plus course which will be 10 weeks in duration and include 200 hours of teacher-led instruction and 50 hours of independent learning.

Advanced Plus Frequently Asked Questions

The courses prepare students for study in an Australian academic context and have been designed to develop the academic skills required at university. Specifically, the program helps students to develop key skills in critical thinking, independent learning and active participation in an academic environment. Students learn how to:

  • write essays and reports
  • research and analyse information
  • give presentations
  • debate issues
  • prepare for the transition to university life

* 100 hours per module of teacher-led instruction and 25 hours independent learning

Direct Entry to RMIT University

Students who successfully complete REW English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate and Advanced 2 levels do not need to sit for an IELTS or TOEFL test before they enter VET and Higher Ed courses at RMIT University.
