Q: Am I eligible for CELTA?
As long as you are 18 years or over; have completed Year 12 or equivalent; and have sufficient awareness and competence in written and spoken English, you can apply.
Q: Is CELTA better than other cheaper English teaching courses?
CELTA is accredited and administered by the University of Cambridge and is a globally recognised qualification. Other courses may not be recognised by overseas authorities which may mean problems getting a visa. Also shorter courses are unlikely to meet the NEAS requirements of a minimum of 100 contact hours and 6 hours of supervised, assessed teaching practice.
Q: How important is the institution when considering where to study CELTA?
Your certificate, issued by Cambridge ESOL will be accompanied by a report issued in the name of the university or college where you train, a reputable institution with global recognition will open more doors for you.
Q: How do I know CELTA is right for me?
The application process includes a pre-course interview as well as the submission of written tasks. These are used to assess your ability to complete the course and your commitment to the intensive schedule.
Q: How hard is it to get into CELTA?
Not every applicant is offered a place. Our expert trainers will assess your application and interview to see if you have the potential to succeed in this demanding course. They may recommend you take our Grammar Fundamentals course first to brush up on your knowledge of language systems.
Q: Do I have to know all about grammar before I do the CELTA?
The focus of the CELTA course is teaching you to teach – not teaching you about grammar. This is why the application process is so important, and this is why you might be recommended to take our Grammar Fundamentals course before you start.
